They usually appear within the first 6 months after the infection. This is what studies of visible genital wart cases have shown. There are, however, a few cases where warty lesions appear much later. The immune system obviously initially suppressed the virus (in latent form – latent infection), but when it later weakened, the infection on the epithelium flared up and lesions started appearing.
